“An amazing place to get away to for a romantic, relaxing weekend.
Thoughtfully designed and equipped.
Beautiful views and great place to explore North Yorkshire Moors.”

“My partner Dominic and I stayed in The Potting Shed in mid-December for a week; we had a lovely time exploring beautiful Goathland and the rest of the Moors. The cottage was clean, tidy, and perfectly comfortable for two. The Potting Shed is well-positioned for exploring all that the Moors has to offer - climbing up the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey, walking along South Sands at Scarborough or scaling the many more steps down to the sea in Robin Hood's Bay. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Goathland, and the cottage was just perfect, set in the beautiful surroundings of a farm on the Moors. We would thoroughly recommend The Potting Shed!”

“We booked this as our 'mini-moon' and couldn't have asked for a more romantic setting. The cottage was very well presented on arrival and Chris and Claire were more than happy to help. We will definitely be returning.”

“As near to perfect as a retreat for one during a cold winter break. It's hugely stylish, with every consideration for guests' comfort and relaxation. To commend highly is the friendly and polished service offered by the hosts, reflected in the quality of the holiday accommodation provided . They are consummate professionals, thoughtful and enthusiastic.”

“We had the most peaceful and contented few days at the Potting Shed - a great luxury hideaway on the North York Moors and central to loads of activities and the coast. If you really want to get away from it all but still be in walking distance of civilisation, I would recommend the Potting Shed. The view of the stars on a clear night from the patio was amazing! We really appreciated the welcome basket - a very special touch woth artisan produce and the welcoming feel with lots of info about the surrounding area and recommendations of places off the beaten track to visit. The perfect romantic space for two.”

secluded holiday home.”

“Had a great time greeted by Chris, who was very friendly, he showed us around the cottage, and explained were everything was. The welcome basket was filled with lovely treats. We had a view to die for out of patio doors, onto a field were wildlife was in abundance…it was so peaceful. Goathland is very pretty with lots’to see. and Whitby isn’t far away either . My hubby and I needed a place to recharge our batteries so to speak, and this potting shed did the trick - We would certainly go again.”

“Lovely cottage with very welcoming and friendly hosts who are knowledgeable about the local area and things to do. This place is smart but very cosy, things like provided towels, robes and slippers as well as toiletries and a welcome basket make it almost like staying in a hotel. The cottage is a short walk from the centre of the local village where there tourist shops, tea shops and a post office, so easy access to tea and cake as well! 10/10 would recommend and I'm sure we'll be returning.”

“We had to contact the owner prior to arrival regarding a few things & nothing was too much bother for Chris, in fact he was more than helpful.
On arrival Chris, Claire and the dogs gave us a warm welcome and they walked us round to the cottage, showed us where everything was & explained how the heating, water etc all worked.
The welcome basket had all the essentials you'd need, bread, butter, milk, jam, breakfast cereal, eggs, fruit, tea, coffee, biscuits, wine. And unlike other places we've stayed this basket show cased local produce which is a nice touch.
The cottage is an architectural masterpiece on utilising the space. The layout is great, plenty space to chill out in the lounge, either sitting at the dining table enjoying breakfast & the views or relaxing with a book on the beanbag.
Kitchen has everything you could need to prepare a meal but we opted to eat our way around all the local fish restaurants and just had breakfast in the cottage. The dining table is perfectly placed to watch the deer in the field or mummy pheasant bringing her babies into the garden to show them how to get the seed from the bird table.
The cottage is like a secret hideaway, it's very private set within its own garden and accessed through Chris's rose garden which in the early evening has the most wonderful fragrance. There is a patio area where you can enjoy an early morning cuppa or a glass of wine in the evening.
The location is excellent for touring the north Yorkshire Moors. The local pub is less than a ten minute walk from the cottage, with a few small shops to get the essentials Whitby is only 10 miles away and has a large Sainsbury if you prefer a supermarket or there are the usual bakers, butchers etc for local produce.
Can't speak highly enough of this cottage and wears already planning our next visit.”

“We spent a wonderful week at the beautifully stylish "Potting Shed" and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking an idyllic & romantic getaway. The property and the setting were truly stunning. The owners have thought of everything to make the stay truly memorable, from the welcome hamper to the perfectly equipped kitchen & bathroom. This is 5 star luxury with a personal touch which was second to none - Shoreditch meets Gods country! Thank you Chris & Claire”
